The PORCH investigators identified data elements needed to evaluate midlife risk factors of cognitive and cardiovascular health in a population-based study consisting of a large number of underserved and understudied diverse populations. We established a set of core variables and definitions for predetermined analysis. Data for the core variables are collected by telephone and in-home assessments, and a subpopulation of consenting individuals underwent magnetic resonance imaging to assess structural brain anatomy and white matter injuries.
The PORCH study investigators spent enormous amount of time on developing study materials carefully keeping in mind participant time and burden. Data were collected through two different modalities – telephone and home interviews, web study, and neuroimaging at MRI center.
Sample questionnaires are provided here. Some of the questions may change over time and questionnaires will be periodically updated as necessary.
